Hot press forming is a simple and common processing method in the plastics processing industry. The hot press forming technology mainly uses heating to process the mold, inject the sample, and then fix the model on the heating plate with pressure, controls the melting temperature and time of the sample, so as to harden and cool after melting, and then take out the finished model.
·Characteristics of hot press forming.
(1) Plastic memory
Plastic memory can make the plastic become rubbery and closely fit on the mold after heating. It is an important characteristic of the material. Due to this feature, the poorly formed product can be heated outside the mold to restore its original flat shape.
(2) Hot strength and hot elongation
Hot strength and hot elongation are two properties associated with plastic memory. Hot strength is the strength left over after the plastic is heated. Some plastics lose all their strength and become soft after being heated, but some plastics still have strength and resilience after being heated. Plastics with high thermal strength can be stretched on the mold, but plastics with low thermal strength will tear quickly when stretched. Therefore, a material with strong thermal strength is a material with high thermal tear strength.
