The Difference Between Blanking and Punching.

·Different concepts.

1. Blanking is using a press to separate the required material from the board base material. It separates the material from the parent material by various methods, such as presses, shears, sewing machines, flame-cutting, plasma cutting, laser cutting, etc.

2. Punching is adapting to different needs, specifically: character-eight holes, hexagonal holes, punching plates, long holes, square holes, round holes, punching plate nets, triangular holes, and so on.

·Different purposes.

1. The purpose of blanking is to obtain blanking parts with a certain shape and size. The washed part is the finished product, and the remaining part is the leftover material or waste.

2. The purpose of punching is to punch out holes in the sheet material to obtain punched parts with holes.

·Different applications.

1. Blanking: used for blanking of workpieces that need to be further processed, or directly punching out workpieces, such as flat tool heads.

2. Punching: Compared with sheet punching, pipe punching has many similarities in terms of deformation properties and deformation characteristics, but because the pipe is a hollow cylindrical blank, the convex and concave dies are in contact with each other during punching. The wall of the pipe is a solitary surface instead of a plane like a plate, so special technological measures and the structure of the mold need to be taken.
